ALL boxing fans know that Rocky Marciano is the only world heavyweight champion to retire undefeated, his 49-0 record standing out as a beacon of invincibility. But he came very close to losing that aura when he challenged veteran Jersey Joe Walcott for the world heavyweight title in the City of Brotherly Love.
…The better skills of the champion had in front on all three cards after round 12; it seemed he had only to stay out of trouble to retain his crown. Yet early in the 13th Walcott faltered momentarily and the relentless Marciano seized his chance, smashing in the big right for a knockout 43 seconds into the session.

This is the second time this happened for Walcott! First time was against Joe Louis, he was winning and then again he became slow then Louis landed the left hook followed by 4 simultaneous hooks to knock him out..
